President of Votion
Rupesh Shah is the President of Votion, where he is responsible for Better Health Group’s provider-facing brand and healthcare management services organization (MSO).
Rupesh has more than 35 years of experience in the healthcare and managed care sector. Before joining Votion, he served as CEO of Freedom/Optimum Health Plans, where he grew Medicare Advantage membership from 25k to 135k and achieved 5-star rating two years in a row. Rupesh is a co-founder and former CEO of WellCare Health Plans, where he helped grow it to be the largest managed Medicaid plan in Florida, with 300k managed Medicaid lives, and 45k Medicare Advantage HMO lives. He also served as WellCare’s Senior Executive Vice President of Market Expansion leading national expansion with the growth of Medicare Advantage into five additional states and managed Medicaid into four additional states.
Rupesh holds a master’s in computer science and business administration from Gujarat University and an M.B.A. from the University of South Florida.
Chris Ferry
President of Markets and Products
Chris Ferry serves as the President of Markets and Products at Better Health Group, where he is responsible for the company’s local market operations and management, new market expansion, and payor and provider partnership development.
Prior to joining Votion, Chris served as the Medicare Region President at Centene, where he led Medicare product performance and operations across a nine-state region with 275,000 Medicare Advantage members. He previously held various senior leadership positions with WellCare Health Plans, where he helped define and execute a national Medicare and Medicaid network performance strategy that aligned more than 60 percent of WellCare’s membership to value-based models. Earlier in his career, Chris held roles at Evolent Health, helping some of the nation’s largest health systems develop value-based care infrastructure.
Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.
Dr. Eric Haas
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. J. Eric Haas serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Better Health Group, where he develops and drives the vision and strategy across all subsidiaries to deliver superior patient outcomes through optimizing scope of services, medical risk management, clinical quality, patient satisfaction, provider engagement and development, and strengthening Health Plan Partner relationships.
Dr. Haas is a physician leader with over 35 years of clinical, hospital, pharmaceutical, and managed care experience. Prior to joining Better Health Group, Dr. Haas served as Senior Medical Director at Florida Blue, where he was responsible for strategic and operational effectiveness of the Medicare Advantage membership. He was also the clinical lead for the new Place of Delivery Model that brought a local care team focus on the highest risk Medicare Advantage, ACA, and Fully Insured Commercial membership. He previously served as the Network Medical Director for WellCare Health Plans.
Dr. Haas earned his bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and his Medical Doctorate from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. He is board certified in Family Medicine.
Inna Karyeva
Chief Operating Officer of Medicare ACOs
Inna Karyeva serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Medicare ACOs at Votion. In this role, she is responsible for leading and growing Votion’s ACO business unit through network relationships and national expansion.
Before joining Votion, Inna held a number of leadership roles at UnitedHealth Group, including Vice President of Risk Product and Chief of Staff of OptumCare, where she led the development and build of new Medicare Advantage risk markets with payer and provider partners. Prior to UnitedHealth Group, Inna worked for Evolent Health, serving as the Associate Director of Health Plan Product Development, where she led the development, implementation, and ongoing operations for Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid, and Commercial provider-led risk products.
Inna holds a bachelor’s in business administration from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Ashley Rae Medina
Vice President of Provider Operations
Ashley Medina serves as the Vice President of Provider Operations at Votion. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the field-based Provider Operations Team that serves as the primary point of contact for the affiliate provider offices, monitoring growth, program engagement, and financial performance. She has been with the company for over seven years.
Before joining Votion, Ashley worked at a Humana-owned MSO, serving as a Medical Chart Reviewer, where she focused on achieving high HEDIS Star Ratings and condition identification. She has also held multiple positions, including Registrar, Financial Aid Advisor, and Admissions Representative at two for-profit higher education schools, and had world-class hospitality training as a Restaurant Guest Service Manager at Walt Disney World, leading a team of cultural representatives from Norway and the United Kingdom.
Ashley holds a bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Communication and Computational Science from the University of Central Florida. She currently holds a title as a Certified Professional Coder from the AAPC.
Roshni Patel
Vice President of Quality Operations
Roshni Patel serves as the Vice President of Quality Operations at Votion. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the national Medicare Advantage line of business programs that directly impact MRA coding/documentation compliance and HEDIS scores. She has been with the company for over seven years.
Prior to joining Votion, Roshni was a senior associate at KPMG, where she specialized in state and local tax and assisted clients in a variety of industries to identify and secure credits and incentives. She was also a senior consultant at Ryan, an award-winning global tax services and software provider, where she identified and secured statutory and negotiated credits and incentives across the following industries: Manufacturing, Retail, Warehouse/Distribution Centers, Transportation, Healthcare, Education, Telecommunication, and Hospitality.
Roshni holds a bachelor’s in accounting and finance from the University of Illinois Chicago.
Lindsey Pierson
Vice President of Marketing
Lindsey Pierson serves as the Vice President of Marketing at Better Health Group. In this role, she oversees all marketing strategies and efforts to grow and strengthen Votion’s position as one of the nation’s leading primary care platforms.
Prior to joining Votion, Lindsey was the Director of Communications and Public Relations for HCA Florida Healthcare, where she oversaw all hospital communications and marketing strategies, in addition to developing and managing strategic marketing plans and budgets for hospital, service lines, and employed physicians. She has also served as the Marketing Manager for home builder D.R. Horton and Corporate Marketing Coordinator for real estate developer Miromar Development Corporation.
Lindsey holds a bachelor’s in public relations from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers.
Katie Ames
Executive Director of Medicaid
Katie Ames is the Executive Director of Medicaid at Votion. In this role, she is responsible for leading and growing Votion’s Medicaid line of service through network relationships and driving partner engagement.
Prior to Votion, Katie served as the Associate Director of Marketing and Community Engagement at Humana, where she was responsible for Managed Care Organization operations with a focus on the development of innovative programs and partnerships to increase revenue growth. Before Humana, she led similar programs and strategies at IASIS Healthcare. Her healthcare career began at Carnahan Group, a Tampa-based healthcare consulting firm.
Katie holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Western Carolina University and an M.B.A. with a concentration in health care administration at St. Leo University.
